Share Prompts from the Void

What the hell is this?

It’s the creative inspiration you need when you’re staring into the void.

More specifically, it’s a place to help you build and maintain your creative practice through a regular cadence of prompts.

Do I belong here?

If you have a creative itch to scratch, then yes, you’re in the right place.

PFTV was built for people at all levels of experience (e.g. just beginning, lapsed, creatively-blocked, professional), and of all creative inclinations (e.g. writing, drawing, painting, making music).

How does it work?

  1. You’ll receive one creative prompt per week to inspire a burst of creativity.

  2. You’ll respond by creating something, like a piece of writing, a drawing, a painting, or a musical composition. You can set a timer for fifteen minutes, or go for as long as you’d like.

  3. You’ll share your work with the community, or just keep it to yourself.

Will this really help me be creative?

Yes.

PFTV was designed to help people overcome the three main obstacles to building and maintaining a creative practice —

  1. The prompt itself serves as the distinct creative spark to help you bypass your writer’s/creative block.

  2. The community and regular cadence of prompts serves as your system of accountability and validation.

  3. The focus on the practice itself as opposed to a polished, finished product serves as a low-stakes entry (or reentry) point into a creative habit.

Why should I care?

Because we’re all born to be creative, but society has a way of beating it out of us.

Beyond intrinsic joy, the scientifically-proven benefits of creative expression include:

  • Relaxation of mind and body

  • Decreased anxiety and depression

  • Boosted cognitive function

  • Enhanced creative problem solving skills

Plus, it just might help you find something that moves you. A flexible but consistent creative practice gives us space to explore, discover, and pursue what we truly enjoy.

If you’re still staring into the void, I hope you’ll take the plunge.
